Monty Python - The Meaning of Live gives viewers unparalleled backstage access to the preparations and staging of the Pythons' 2014 reunion at The O2, London.  This intimate documentary includes never before seen archive footage from the group’s early live shows, including Live at the Hollywood Bowl in 1980.  For the first time, the members of Monty Python open up about their approach to comedy, their worldviews and the tensions within the group. 

 

The feature-length documentary premiered in the UK on UKTV  Gold on 13 November 2014. It is currently doing the film festival rounds, having had it's International Premiere at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival, Canadian Premiere at HotDocs 2015 in Toronto and European Premiere at Sheffield Docs Fest 2015.  

 

The film was nominated for a 2015 Rose D'Or Award, released on iTunes on 17 July 2015 and made available on Netflix (worldwide) on 2 October 2018.
